What is the difference between Japanese and Korean sushi?

It all started when Japan annexed Korea. Even if there were some communal tensions or social tensions, both countries have high regard for Japanese delicacies, specifically Sushi. Korean people were fond of Japanese tradition and manner, their authentic ways to cook some world-famous delicacies, and Koreans tried to learn them too.

There have been a lot of Korean heads who have learned the skills of creating authentic sushi by top Japanese chefs and it has been privileged for the Japanese chefs to train the Koreans and share their cooking skills to make the most authentic sushi. This combination of teaching and learning also helps in narrowing the cultural tensions and acts as a cultural bond between the two countries, and amongst the people.

By this process, Koreans learned about sushis and were trained in making the best sushi to an extent where all you can eat is sushi. Eventually, Koreans started liking the idea of sushis and started experimenting with it. With time and their creative skills, they gave variation to sushis, and Japanese Sushi became Kimbap in Korea.

Even though, people do not know about it and think that Kimbao is a Korean authentic dish, which it be considered as. But, the roots are from Japan, and the difference is that Japanese Sushi is a rice roll made with fish, chicken, veggie or any mixture seasoned with vinegar. But, Kimbap is a rice roll that is cooked with an amazing mixture but is seasoned with sesame oil. So, it gives a slightly sugary taste. And the combination is amazing. Now, after knowing the difference between the two, you can directly choose if you want Korean Kimbap or Japanese sushi.

Both teh rice rolls are made similarly, the siderite lies in their sauces. The Japanese sushi has set its mark with wasabi, while kimbap offers a fermented read sauce. Both the sauces give the same heat or spice. But, are slightly different in taste. One being sugary spicy and the other being spicy. 

Now, with the major differences, you can also see some side ones, there can be some changes with eh side dishes. For example, the pickled ginger served with wasabi and Japanese Sushi is often replaced by kimchi and red pepper sauce when you eat Kimbap. And also, in Japanese sushi, specifically the authentic ones there is no use of lotus roots. Ut, surprisingly, Kimbap can use lotus roots to make the Korean sushi crispy and a little crunchy with the mixture of sesame oil and salmon fish.

Also, to keep in mind, Kimbap is known as Korean sushi and Gimbap is known as the synthetic process of cooking the Kimbap. It takes hard-boiled eggs, carrots, spinach, kimchi beef, and more to cook a perfect Kimbap.

In Japan, the making of sushi started as early as the 2nd century A.D. when the working class used to eat rice with salted fish, which used to be fermented till their lunchtime. And then, with time, the process changed to make perfect sushi. Japanese sushi is best if it has properly cooked rice, best quality fish, and seaweed. And with that, only wasabi and pickled ginger is required to enhance the taste. 

Sushis are well known and cooked worldwide now, that too in an authentic manner, and for the people who think that all you can eat is sushi, there are a lot of sushi outlets, even in NYC.
